Another post I think a lot of you will enjoy. It’s not been read much.
fonzandcancer blogging to encourage.
It’s only when we think we can’t carry on that we find the real substance of a person. We have all been there, head in your hands feeling that overwhelming feeling of uselessness. That there, is where life begins. Where the real fighters start to live a life. It’s where you find out what a person is truly made of, as I write I am reminded of a time where I decided (seemingly) that I was going to have no more chemo. It was mid way through my first treatment called ABVD. For those that don’t know, my first treatment lasted 6 months. 12 chemo son in all every 2 weeks. It’s such a shame I never documented anything, no diary no thoughts. Just my memory that fails me, that I have to work with. I remember being at the end of what I could bear. 6 was enough and…

I cannot even begin to imagine what such a struggle is like. I admire your drive and will to keep moving forward.
The title of your post “Life begins at the end of your comfort zone” is so very, very true.
God bless you!

Well, thanks, that’s nice of you to say. 🙂 Let me clarify though that I’m also a big WIMP when it comes to dealing with pain, and I’m prone to having a little weepy pity-party when things hurt. But I’m not ashamed to admit it either, and consider tears a therapeutic event. But then you move forward again. 🙂

Mark, I am sitting in tears reading this. This is an extremely important message!! You strongly evoked memories that– thank God– I’ve since moved beyond. Despair likes to give you “logical” reasons to give up, like “give up now so you’re no longer a burden.” People should never listen to that one!! It’s a lie, because you’re important to the people around you, even in ways you don’t know, no matter what circumstances life brings. And no matter the circumstances, you can still be a blessing to others through all of it, if you have the right mindset; if nothing else, by your example of how you deal with adversity! (My mother was such an example, and I still thank her (20 years in heaven now, this month), as I deal with another illness). In those darkest moments when you want to focus on your own pain, you have to look for a spark; for me it was my little grandson. Thank God! And now I enjoy 3 of them! Looking to God for strength and healing lifts the burden of having to deal with your weakness all by yourself. You’re never alone, no matter where you are or who is around. That thought made me smile yesterday as I went through the claustrophobic bone scanner. 🙂
Thank-you for your courage in writing this post! 🙂 ❤

This is well said and summed up in your quote. You walked into hell and did what Churchill advised, you kept walking until you got out.
